Future Oil Spill Contingency Forum
NORBIT Aptomar participated in the Future Oil Spill Contingency Forum at Thon Hotel Svolvær 17th - 18th September.
The Future Oil Spill Contingency Forum was held in Svolvær 17th - 18th September this year, and was a joint arrangement between Centre for Oil Spill Contingency and Marine Environment (SOMM) and the Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA). Main purpose of the forum is to strengthen Norwegian oil spill contingency by creating an arena for collaboration and common understanding of the needs and challenges related to work against acute pollution.
The forum gathered operative players, the industry, governmental bodies, academia and research institutions to discuss how we can develop and enhance Norwegian oil spill contingency, and how we should work to solve future challenges together. The forum aims to secure that research and development within this area are relevant for the operative oil spill contingency, and this year's forum focused especially on challenges in the northernmost areas. A main goal was to get input on the most crucial knowledge gaps, and where we should focus the resources to make sure that we protect the marine environment in the best possible way.
